iMED

iMed covers new international students in their first 3 months in BC before they are eligible for MSP. iMED covers medical care, emergency care, and basic pharmaceutical care. International students are automatically enrolled in iMED once they register for their first UBC class. Exchange students are also eligible.

Some services, like planned surgeries and certain diagnostic procedures, will be covered by iMED but require pre-authorization. Call MSH Assistance at 

1 (403) 538-2364 prior to your appointment to get approved.  If a procedure is pre-approved, you will still have to file a claim for coverage. 

How to file a with iMED

Print the claim form and bring it to the doctor’s office with you

• Ask your provider to fill out the “For Medical Providers Only” section

• Complete the rest of the form

• Mail the form and any receipts, doctor’s notes, and available relevant health records to 

MSH Assistance
